Joel S. Migdal oral history interview, 2004.

Tape recorded interview covering the years 1970-2004, taken on March 25, 2004; transcript, curriculum vitae. Professor Migdal discusses his family background and his experiences in college, especially at Harvard. He talks about the influence of people like Frank Tachau and Judith Shklar. Mr. Migdal discusses his theory regarding the structure of the states in the Third World, and he indicates how his theory further helps him understand recent Palestinian society in Israel and the West Bank. Professor Migdal also talks about his work at the University of Washington's School of International Studies, and the Department of Jewish Studies. Mr. Migdal describes his activities with the Seattle Jewish community, especially Congregation Beth Shalom.
